When is entry free?
Entry is free on the first Sunday of every month, on 25 April, 2 June and 4 November. On those days there is no online booking: you collect your free ticket at the ticket office on the day. We could not confirm whether opening hours differ on free days, so check the official site.
What is closed at the moment?
The Villa dei Papiri and the ancient theatre are closed for works, and the official site gives no reopening date. The Suburban Baths are not on the normal route either: they can only be seen on guided visits to the restoration site on selected Saturdays, with their own ticket. Check the official site for dates and prices.
Which ticket should I choose?
- Independent visit: the 16 euro official ticket. Our partner Tiqets also sells an entry ticket with a downloadable audio guide, which you can book with the buttons on this page.
- You want context: a guided tour with an archaeologist. Tiqets lists an entry ticket plus guided tour and a 2-hour guided tour; check each card for the language of the guide, since the 2-hour tour is listed in English, French and Italian only.
- Visiting often: the Ercolano Card pays off only if you plan several visits within a year.
These are third-party products with their own prices and inclusions, so read the details before booking.
